Wild Blue Yonder

After reading the most current issue of Luxe Interior+Design magazine that featured Mary McDonald's blue guest house living space (first photo below), I couldn't help but fall in love with this classic, stately color all over again.

What are your feelings on blue? Have you used it in your home or projects? If so, I would love to see how you have incorporated this noble color!

Using dark blue for your interior can create feelings of:
1) Relaxation
2) Enthusiasm
3) Organization & Order
4) Strength of mind

Some tips when using blue:
1) Good for working zones as it creates feelings of organization.
2) Using light blue on a ceiling can make a space seem more spacious and expansive.
3) Not recommended for rooms where the windows leave to the east and west. This will make your space seem dark and gloomy.
4) Paired with gold = magnificent and noble.
5) Paired with yellow = pleasure.
6) Paired with grey = warm and cozy.
7) Great for children's spaces as it creates a high-tech, modernist space.

  3. Love blue...really the blue-green like Newburg Green. I love it in accents...pillows, curtains, painted furniture. Don't think I can do a blue wall!

  4. I was never a blue person until this year. I found a bowl that my grandmother brought home from Sweden and it inspired me to do our front living room with blues. I will do a post someday when it's finished :)

These pictures are going on my inspiration board! Thank you for sharing!

  6. Love blue too,!. I just painted a cabinet for our very small hallway a deep blue w/hints of turquoise and I love it. It's BM galapagos turquoise! And, considering BM ice blue for the walls. BTW, I saw that I'm in your blogroll! Thanks - I'm flattered!

  7. Love love blue and white together, I use it by bringing blue and white porcelain pieces for a cooler summer look in my home. If I have a blue and white vase with pink flowers I am in heaven, nothing prettier than cobalt and a pop of pink. I did a post on blue and white a while ago and I love looking at the images over and over. I have reallllly loved this post!! Thanks for the eye candy, Kathysue
