Modern meets Traditional

I saw this ad for The Rug Company in this month's Traditional Home magazine, and it totally caught my eye! I love the mix of the traditional settee with the contemporary rug, modern light fixture and vintage desk. It's the perfect combo! (Sorry for the poor image quality...had to scan the ad!)

After seeing the ad, I googled The Rug Company and came across their sleek new store in Malta. I think it's fantastic! Don't you?

Stationery Sale!!!

My talented sis, owner of Unink Design LLC, is having a fabulous (and I do mean fabulous!) stationery pre-order sale through this Friday, May 25th. She has several notecard designs that are available and ready to ship with personalized and non-personalized options. She is best known for her amazing watercolors and custom-invitation packages, but her notecards are just as lovely and very popular also! So please, please stroll on over to her facebook page HERE and support a wonderful artist and very talented gal! You won't be disappointed :) Below are a few preview pics...thanks in advance for your support!

Piping Hot!

The hubs was out of town so Brennan and I enjoyed a nice girls weekend! We went to the neighborhood spring social on Saturday and spent some time at the park this afternoon to stroll, swing and see the ducks...three of our favorite activities! One thing was for sure, though, it was piping hot!! It's a good thing there were some shade trees we could escape beneath.  I posted a couple of pics from our outing at the bottom of the post :)

Speaking of piping hot...I am totally digging the HOT PINK accents that the Hotel Gansevoort on Park Avenue NYC has used to create a total wow factor in the guest rooms! I think I could handle spending some time in that room after a long day of NYC shopping. Hmmm...let me go check my calendar - ha!

Starbucks Sizzler

Since a Starbuck's gift card is one of my Mother's Day Must-Haves (see post below), I thought I would feature this stunning Starbucks that is on the path to the Dazaifu Tenmangu Temple in Fukuoka, Japan. The design, by architect Kengo Fuma, features 2,000 stick-like parts that are weaved together diagonally and range in size from 1.3m – 4m in length. What do you think about this design? I personally think it is super cool!

My Derby Darlings

In honor of the Kentucky Derby race this afternoon, I wanted to post some horse inspired products that I just love! And yes, I will be in attendance at a Derby Party with my new white hat! Can you tell I'm excited about that?! I probably won't be making any bets (my favorite never wins), but a good time it will be. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday and be sure to tune into the "greatest 2 minutes in sports." Oh, and happy Cinco de Mayo, too!

Happy Bee-Day, Brennan!

Since it's been a while since I have posted, I figured I'd write about something bright and sunny....my daughter's first "Bee"-day party! I can't believe it has already been one year since Brennan came into our lives, and let me just say, it's been the best year EVER!! She has truly been the light of our lives and is such a sweet, happy little girl. I could go on and on...and on and on... but I think we could all do that about our little ones, right?!?
Since we call her "B" for short, I thought having a bumble-"B" party would be the perfect celebration. Instead of using the traditional colors of black and yellow that we associate with bees, I incorporated all of the party details using a lighter, softer color palette of whites, yellows, grays, pastel pinks and pastel teals. I must thank all of my amazing vendors that helped make the party such a success (see all listed below), and in particular, I want to give a shout-out to my talented and hard-working sister. She is the owner of Unink Design LLC (www.facebook.com/uninkdesignllc), and really made the ideas in my head come to life!
Below are some pictures from the party. Thanks to all of you - family and friends - who came to celebrate on this special day with us. And last, but certainly not least, we love you, Brennan!!! Here's to your year number 2!
